1st Guidance on Multisite certification

It took some time, but finally the first Guidance on multisite certification has been published!
Last year the IAF has published the Guidance on the Determination of Audit Time for Integrated Audit of Multisite Management Systems, the ID14.

Very good

  • In this guidance is very clearly stated that the calculation of the audit durations should be done for the sampled sites separately. We still see certifiers who calculate based on the total number of people for the whole multisite organization! This is of course wrong.

But very disappointing

  • As far as I can see the Industry as a key stakeholder in multisite certification has not been consulted on this guidance document.
  • And I completely miss the calculation of the Central Function and the Shared Services (like f.e. Procurement, IT and HR).  The MD1 is very unclear about this.

The guidance refers to other known standards for the calculation of the audit durations. In the end nothing new.
But we are happy there is at least this first guidance on multisite certification.
